From Commencement Boo's To 4 AM Layoffs
Three crowds are making the AI headlines this week: commencement Boo's, the 2 AM Layoffs, and the HR Axe. While they fight, contractors are quietly rehired and 74% of flexible talent has gone AI-native. The cheat code is the talent solutions on Human Cloud.

From Commencement Boo's To 4 AM Layoffs
Three stories dominated the AI conversation this week.
| 1. | The Boo's. Eric Schmidt at the University of Arizona. Gloria Caulfield (Tavistock) at UCF. Scott Borchetta (Big Machine Records) at MTSU. Every commencement speaker who framed AI as opportunity got drowned out.[1][2] Only Jensen Huang at Carnegie Mellon got a pass. |
| 2. | The 4 AM Layoff. Meta started notifying its 8,000 layoffs today at 4 AM Singapore time, framed as a "broader corporate transition to transform Meta into an artificial intelligence company."[6] |
| 3. | The HR Axe. Bolt CEO Ryan Breslow eliminated the entire HR department and cut roughly 30% of headcount.[3] His quote: "The HR team was creating problems that didn't exist. Those problems disappeared when I let them go." |
Here's the contradiction: while the headlines talk about AI, the reality is rehiring of contractors. Klarna is the warning - they replaced 700 customer service agents with AI in 2024, watched quality tank, and started rehiring by mid-2025.[4]
As with most things, the truth is in the middle. AI is an answer. Org redesign is an answer. The combination of AI + Org Design is the real answer.
But here's a cheat code: the solutions on Human Cloud are already AI-native.
The reason: 74% of flexible talent embraces AI across their specific expertise, and 95% say AI makes them more competitive.[5]
So if you're using a flexible talent solution, you're starting on third base - and learning from operators who are already AI-native.
This is how we visualize where flexible talent solutions fit for CEOs.
As you'll see further in the newsletter, there are solutions and business cases galore - enough to comfort your boss that "we won't get fired by going this direction." Which ironically, as Bolt shows, is the opposite of the truth: anyone not embracing flexible talent will eventually be the one fired.
